I did look at the relay sets with fuses that Bill Hanlon mentions, but I don't believe I want to go that way. My power strip has a fuse for each item, and the reverse lights, electric fuel pump, and overdrive relay are not high draw items.
There has been more than one mention of an electric fan. That is a mislead originating from me, sorry. I may power the interior heater fan from my terminal block, only to move one more wire off my ignition switch. My temperature gage never varies beyond 180 degrees, so I do not foresee a need to add a fan to the radiator.
Joe H mentions double relaying. That does seem to be unnecessarily complicated, and I do not know what potential problem may come from that. The overdrive that is powered from my terminal block operates through a relay, so putting a relay before the terminal block would be double relaying that. The 2nd relay I show in my sketch above would be for allowing the HEI to accommodate the kickdown function of the overdrive. That would be a 2nd double relay. I plan to wire that 2nd relay for the HEI as shown by poster ray_mcavoy in 67-72chevytrucks.com. I find that in a search for "HEI overdrive" in that forum.
There is also mention somewhere about fusing or not fusing the HEI. I would be okay with not fusing that, if that is what GM did, but I would want it to be somehow tied to the ignition switch.
I still have some things to learn, and I will before I start soldering.
