Heating just the balancer snout, not the whole thing, with a Propane torch doesn't cause any problems. I use a rosebud tip on an acetylene torch, and warm up the hub until a drop of water sizzles away quickly, and then tap the balancer on with a big dead blow mallet. It usually bottoms out with just a few quick hits. If not, a piece of all-thread rod and a nut and a few fender washers complete the installation. Obviously, that's after the crank snout has been drilled and tapped.
