If the slot in the crank is wallowed out, you will have to sort out an alternate retention method. May have to bite the bullet and use a pin kit to pin the crank. Lets hope that is not the case.

Although if you are a good machinist (am I am not) and have the proper equipment you may be able to machine a new retention slot. A replacement balancer is just not that much money and I would hate to go to all that trouble, get it all back together only to discover the rubber gasket between the halves is bad, or some other issue.
