My dad bought a 1946 COE when I was 2 years old in 1950. We still have it. Beginning in the 1980s, I started to take a specific interest in them and we acquired 5 more of the 41/46 models. This was long before they became the darling of the "hack them to pieces" crowd. We have 3 complete trucks now. I have other old Chevy trucks, two 1928s, a 1936, three 1938s, a 1939 and a 1940. Two 1935 Chevy cars and three Model T Fords round out my fleet.
I figured out early in the game that a parts book is my friend. I can answer most of my questions by referring to the information supplied by Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motor Corporation. I don't have to rely on the recollection of somebody's Uncle Dave, who once worked on the Chevrolet assembly line, or the old guy, down the road, that owned a similar model in 1958.
My library of Chevy Parts manuals includes 30 or more pieces covering from 1928 into the 1970s.
When I saw the original post on this subject, I was pretty sure that the head lamps were interchangeable from right to left. I wasn't sure and since Uncle Dave and the old guy down the road are both in the nursing home, I had no choice but to consult the appropriate Chevrolet Master Parts Catalog. I did this before writing my previous post. Here is what I found:

The moral of the story is "BUY A G.D. PARTS CATALOG" and you don't have to come her for some B.S. anecdotal info the might or might not be correct.
