I've seen a 3/4" pipe cap attached to the push button on a similar switch with set screws, with an original foot start pedal adapted to the cap. Then use a rubber accordion bellows from a rack & pinion steering tie rod to hide the switch and pipe cap from view. It looks very similar to the original foot start setup.
