Sounds logical. I'm not happy with that wiring, either.
It shows evidence of having been repaired by the same dyslexic nitwit who mixed up #3 and #4 plug wires, mixed up the high beam headlight wire and the main headlight hot wire, and transposed two characters in the serial number when he titled the truck.
I'll either run a temporary switch as Jerry suggests or replace the existing wiring - which has been on my list to do anyway.
