Rochester B works just fine for me and many others.
Is there a tag on the carb? Or a number stamped into the base? I would see if it is rebuild-able. The white crap on the outside makes me wonder what the inside is like. At one point I had to use a welding tip cleaner to get what looked like calcium out. (suspect ethanol was the cause)
Looks like a gasket between the carb and the spacer; it probably shouldn't be there.
