RE the 66, I wasn’t looking for another project but I found this by accident in an alley of my very small home town (where I have been away for decades) but my farm is over there so I go back once in a while. I left a note to see if he wanted to sell (I was hoping NOT as is usually the case) but he called and said he was never going to get to it. It was bought new by the US forest service and used in a county near here which is devoid of trees…ahh the Gov’t! This guys grandfather bought if from the gov’t in 67 (have all the original paperwork!) so it was in their family til I bought it.
250 with sm465. I will do the standard 80s crossmember swap, rewire it, fix the Fred flinstone floors, and I’m not sure what to do with the drive train. I’m leaning toward keeping the 250 but warm it up and add a 4L80E for driveability and put decent 3 something gears in it. These projects tend to get a little off the rails…..going to be a long winter, as I also picked up a totally original rust free 69 Jeepster which needs love.
