P3 = ??? P3 doesn't show as a good code...need help, check numbers again.
D 166 sounds like the cast date code.
D = April
16 = Day
6 = year (1956)
Could this be a dealer replacement done under warranty? The engine serial numbers we used for title purposes back then and the dealer may have transfered the original numbers to the replacement block to keep things correct for the owner. Do the number look hand stamped (not quite straingt or spacing off a little) or machine (everything in line and even)? Is this number on your title?
