I was doing more exploring on my 48 2ton. I pulled the carpet that the previous owner put in. It had a fiber backing that just holds water so I am down to bare metal floor now. I can can keep an eye on it anyhow. I did a temp fix on the throttle linkage. The pedal was sticking in the down position. The pivot where the pedal linkage, and the linkage to the carb connect was stuck tight. I could hardly get my hand on it though. I can't believe that linkage is so hard to get to. You almost have to pull the exhaust pipe to get to it. Anyhow, I loosened the stud just enough to let it release. The pivot isn't moving, but the bolt is. While I was snooping around I located the casting number on the engine, not far from the carb. It was 3836848 and had GM 6. As far as I can decifer on a number search, is that engine is not origianl and is a newer, 1956, 235 engine. Is that right?
