So does that mean you've discovered your voltage regulator is the culprit?
If so, that's good.
A new, USA made 6 volt, neg ground regulator is made by Regitar.
Part # 231-12020
The only difference from the original is that the cover is different from the original so you can't put the old one on the new regulator. It's the same cover used on the 12volt regulators.
Take the cover off yours and see if there is corrosion that you might be able to clean up and get it working.
