You would not to make a duplicate from aluminum, the bolt would smash it. Even the original is pretty much junk, its funny in the past years I never paid much attention to them, till now when helping someone out with their distributor install.
Actually that whole system is a joke, but it has worked for how many years now? And yes there is room for improvement, but if a fellow wanted strictly stock it would be a hunting trip.
The reason there are no cheap knock offs is because it would be a slightly complicated die to make them.
You sure hit it there "Actually that whole system is a joke" We are very fortunate that HEI is adaptable and works good on stovebolt engines. Not hard to see why the Australians call it a dizzy!!
