I don't have an answer for you but my original carter starting leaking on my 54 3100 and I rebuilt it. No change. It still leaked like crazy. These carburetors are known to warp. I found it hard to believe after 68 years mine would suddenly warp but I had no other explanation. I purchased a rebuilt one from a carb shop in California and couldn't be happier with it.
