Brian, I’m not very familiar with alternator wiring and regulators. When I accidentally damaged a regulator in my son’s 1968 C10, I looked at buying a new regulator, I realized that an internally regulated alternator would be the easiest solution. So my new internally regulated alternator was about the same price as a new regulator. It has only one wire from the alternator to the + post on my starter. It makes more amps than my older regulator too.
I can send you pictures of the factory service manual wiring diagrams if that will help. My 1963 truck still has a regulator and factory style alternator but the alternator is different than the one you pictured.
