Kevin, I did and it didn't move when I heated it up. I put it back on same orientation as the old one and clamped it to the pin and it operates like it should. See my later post......

Here's pics of the spring "turned around". The spring has no tension on it when the riser is in the closed position and doesn't touch the pin when in the open position.
