Well, here's an interesting observation. With the spring installed and "heated up" the riser / counterweight can be moved to the open position with virtually zero force. I suspect the engine exhaust would open it easily and it would stay open until the engine was shut off and cooled off. As soon as I get the heater core replaced, I'll start it up and give it a whirl.
