Without getting into how good of a welder a person is or how big the bead stick up is, I think Robert is saying that the best way for someone not as experienced as Fritzy with the 7" sander should use an angle grinder size hard disc. This enables you to just tangent grind the bead and not touch the adjacent metal. He would do it that way and so do I. If a person wants to try any other method, go for it. The last blending/smoothing can be done with much lower aggressive methods.
Robert is a least as experienced as Fritzy. Fritzy's method works for him but is not what most other experienced persons do. Many times Fritzy mentions that he uses a THICKER patch material than the vehicle metal, so that he does not get it too thin when grinding. Most others use the same thickness patch as the parent. Let's stick with Robert instead of Fritzy on that particular point.
