You could do that, but using the std cab long bed S10 gets you the correct wheelbase without having to stretch the frame any. It's simply much less work to go that route. The wheelbase of the long bed S10 also corrects the approx. 2" discrepency in the centering of the rear wheels in the fenderwells that the stock AD chassis has.
