I hear ya concerning the Ford 9 inch. I agree that they are a great choice. Thus far, the research I've done tells me that acquiring and modifying a usable Ford 9 inch, or having one built to my specs, would cost me somewhere between $2K and $3K. More than I want to spend on this upgrade. Of course, as I still do not have an estimate from the machine shop for reconstruction of the GM 55T, I have not taken the Ford 9 inch option off the table.
I'll be taking the GM 55T to the shop on Monday morning for an evaluation. Hopefully, the tab for it's repair will not approach the cost of a new Ford 9 inch.
