Might be better to diassemble the head to clean it properly.The baked on carbon on the valves is real stubborn, generally requiring a mechanical means like a wire brush for cleaning.The sludge and carbon loosened by the cleaner might find its way into the guides.I know guys who throw an assembled head into the parts cleaner, pull it out some what cleaner and say its good to go.
