I think the Quadrajets are a pretty good carb. The thing that screws them up the most is that the shafts wear into the housings and the housings need to be rebushed with a kit. Without it they are mostlikely be a poor performer and have dead spots through the rpm range. If you can't tune a Carter AFB, you might not be able to tune an Edelbrock. Bolting them on is not tuning.
