-stan,
I just want to thank you for this thread. You helped me before with my dome light restoration and I was extremely impressed with your attention to detail. I recently purchased a 1954-55 1st series truck radio and this thread will be a tremendous help to me in my restoration efforts. As a matter of fact, it already has. I contacted the Speaker Exchange and they were able to assist me in finding me the correct replacement parts for my speaker. To be honest, before I read your thread, I did not know that it would be possible to actually rebuild the speaker. I wanted to keep it as original as possible and you provided me a perfect path to the solution. I indirectly, from my wife’s uncle, inherited a tube tester and I am excited to test it out for the other part of the restoration. I know this is just part of it, and it will be a long careful process, but I am excited to finally have most everything I need to make this happen. I have been trying to get an original radio for this truck since 1976 and now I finally have one.
Thanks again,
Phillip
