Once alignment is complete I find the least offensive station and let the unit operate for an hour or so as a pre final assembly test.

The wires should route well and easy if they are the correct length and connected up as the disassembly photos showed.
My new Tone wires now have plenty of length to go the long way around the tuner unit as they originally did.
Make sure the antenna braid group between the chassis and tuner unit does not touch any live circuits.
This braid is not shielded and never was, if you find it too risky to leave it exposed then it might be a good idea to just wrap it up with some tape. I left it exposed, I hope rough roads don't make me regret this decision.

Once the guts are all in we need a couple small housing details.
The bottom mounting bolts need a rubber washers part 7243485 to keep the bolts in the mounting spacers. I opted to use leather for this application because it was handy and it works just as well. The purpose of this washer is that you install the bottom spacers with the bolts hanging in them before lifting the radio up into the dash. Then you can start these bottom bolts while supporting the radio.
Another small item that needs to be fabricated is felt washers part 7242365. I used black felt the original was a light tan color, it isn't really visible once the knobs are seated. Both knobs get a felt washer, even the dummy knob side.

Now all it needs is the the rubber speaker sponge from classic parts (69-505) and a fuse holder.
