I was just showing the hole in the lifter arm and how big it is compared to the accelerator pump shaft and the same for the metering arm. The accelerator pump shaft has two area that are turn down to a smaller diameter. The first is where the metering arm is in the 1st picture and the second is about 3/4" below that. Everything I can tell by looking at pictures and diagrams show the lifter arm should be where the metering arm is in the 1st picture and the metering arm sits on top of the lifter arm. A spring sits below the lifter arm and a spring retainer sits in the lower turned down area. I have no part that would keep the lifter arm up where the metering arm is unless I lost something but have no idea what it might be. I was very careful dismantling everything and putting immediately in a baggie so I would not lose anything.
I am hoping someone has rebuilt a carter 945S carb and can help me out..
