In Washington State we have a Restored Plate meaning you can use any Wa state plate that was originally correct for your year and can have restored,to new condition, no reproduction plates allowed, vehicle must be 30 years old and have a current registration. No renewal annaully and if the vehicle did not have a current registration it might need an inspection, modified vehicles can get these too if the vehicle resembles a vehicle that is more than 30 years old thanks to the street rodding industry and SEMA law which many states have adopted. These are truly great times for the old and modified car enthusiasts that use there vehicles for pleasure.
