Brief history: Original 4cyl had been replaced with a 6cyl 216 which had huge freeze crack in block. Pulled 216, patched hole in firewall, installed Mercruiser 153 4 cylinder and lengthened everything that had been shortened due to 216's longer length. Milled the water flow exhaust off the siamesed intake and installed an early 60's 153ci ChevyII exhaust manifold. Fired engine and it is so smooth running it has a drone to it. Have no idea what cam a Mercruiser has but it does have a heavy iron flywheel now. The distributor is still the no vacuum advance tightly sealed boat unit which may have to be replaced with one with the vacuum advance. Can't test drive till figure out why it moves 6-8 feet and locks up the right rear wheel. Axles are out so it can't be anything in the differential. A test drive will show whether the boat distributor will work. Original post with pictures 12-04-2018.
