There was only a very small portion of the weld that could be accessed from the back for planishing. This would be through the inspection cover on the inside, down below. The inner skin isn't really what I'd call a skin, and your right, it has some breaks and angles in it that likely kept it from warping or stretching. I think that I bought the inner & outer from LMC, but will have to double check that. The reason I did the inner first is because of a youtube video that I watched in which the guy said that you always do the inside first. That sort of made sense to me because the outer has to fold over the inner flange and thus has to be positioned just so. Perhaps I should have done it in the opposite order though. The fitment might be a little more critical, but at least you could get to both sides of the weld. I do remember that I started my weld in the middle, and then worked back and forth from opposite ends toward the midde in order to try to keep it cool. I can't send pictures right now, because the weld area is covered over with body filler right now in an effort to fill in the low areas on each side of the weld and smooth the whole thing out. I don't yet know if that idea is going to work out or not. If it doesn't work out, I'll remove the bondo and then can take pictures. I'll stay on this, and will know in a few days. If worse comes to worse, I do have another pair of doors and their probably a little better than the ones that I used. I started with these because this is new to me and I figured if worse came to worse and I ruined them, then at least I would have ruined the worst pair. That might be foolish thinking, but that's what I thought. Thanks for the excellent reply. I'll check back in as work moves forward.
