Here's an example of 1962 Chevrolet US serial numbers;

2 = year (1962)
C = Conventional Cab with gas engine
36 = Series (3/4 ton)
5 = Body type (Panel)
B = Baltimore
100001 = Unit number starting with 100001 at each plant.

Your model designation would be C3605S here in the US.

C = Conventional Cab with gas engine
36 = GVW classification (3/4 ton)
05 = Body (Panel)
S = 30 Series ordered with optional 7800 pound GVW

I can't help with the engine number other than to say it's not a US format.

OK, did a little more digging and found the US serial number break-down to be very close to the Canadian...here's your Canadian serial number break-down;

2 = year (1962)
C = Conventional Cab
36 = Series (3/4 ton)
05 = Body type (Panel)
6 = Cylinders (4, 6 or 8)
16905 = Unit number starting with 00001
B = GVW (6,001 - 10,000 pounds)

Absent of a "plant" identifier it would seem that there was only one plant building trucks in Canada at that time.
