The 48 and burb tank is a 16 or 17 gallon tank, so it is roughly the same as the one behind the seat. The sending unit will work perfectly with your gages, in fact the sending unit is the same between the two tanks I believe.
Chevy Duty, Golden State Pick-up Parts, and a few others have all advertised 48/burb tanks in the past.
