I had a similar problem when I first got my truck. It would run for a couple miles, then die. In the final analysis, I had rust and other junk in my fuel tank that were interfering with the diaphragm operation in the fuel pump. To resolve the problem, I just cleaned the fuel pump, and cleaned and sealed the gas tank. An old guy at a car show told me the best way to clean out the tank is to put gravel (not smooth rocks) in the tank along with water and shake it as vigorously as you can muster. After a bit of that and some rinsing, I used the POR-15 49239 Fuel Tank Repair Kit to seal it. I've never had a problem since.
