Hey Kevin, take a deep breath and drink a beer or three and get back in there. These linkages are like those homemade horseshoe/chain puzzles Grampaw used to make. Sounds like you have a '54 truck with all of the '54 linkage parts. Is that correct? If so, you are in great shape.
It gets dicey when one is trying to gather parts from different years because there are different pivot points, rod lengths depending on the year. It doesn't sound like you are cursed with that scenario.

Yes sir, it's the same original linkage that came off the truck before I pulled the 235 for overhaul. I know they can be cantankerous but man, I can't seem to figure it out for whatever reason. I have tried every combination I can think of and it still isn't right. The way the bracket about has to mount is like example 9-4-2, for the carb linkage to fit right but the gas pedal rod is too long.
I tried it a different way, like DADS50 shows in his photo (mine is 9-4-1), and as you can see it puts the carb linkage too far back. Been tinkering with it off and on for 3 days.
