You are wise to ask that. I doubt it's legal in any state. A title and data plate is issued to one vehicle. If it's moved to a different vehicle the person doing the moving is putting themselves in legal harms way. As I noted above there are a lot of lawyers making their Porsche payments off of people who do that. Advising and/or assisting people to do that is not wise. If one is tempted to do that I would recommend contacting their state licensing authority to see if that state has a way to do the transfer legally.
