When you swap cabs you move your old/existing serial number plate over to the new cab. That way the cab, frame (if 1955 or newer) and paper title all match. If there is a old plate on the donor cab, remove it as it no longer applies.
When I sell a cab off of a truck I always remove the old serial number plate so there's no question about it...you're buying a part only.
