Ian,
Just to confirm your transmission type, does it have the reverse lock out for reverse? If it does, that is the stock 4 speed, non-synchronized transmission. Nobody knows what to call that transmission type, but it was used from at least 1937 up to 1947. The problem is there are several sets of speedometer gears to go with the various tire sizes as that tranny was used on all models of trucks from 1/2 ton on up. You will have to find a driven gear that matches the one you have that is damaged. For those of you not familiar with this tranny, the driven gear is steel, not plastic, so all of the various gears are the same color. You have to count teeth to identify. Can your driven gear be repaired? I am using a damaged one that was repaired by a machinist. I have at least one extra driven gear but I think it came from a larger truck that probably won't match your 1/2 ton gear. How many teeth does your damaged gear have?
