That's how I did mine. Used the stock bellhousing and stock clutch linkage. If you don't mind changing out your transmission crossmember (I did mind, hence the adapter plate), the stock chevy bellhousings for any of the nv4500 transmissions will bolt up to the later i6's, sbc, bbc, and w motors. You just end up having a transmission mount at the rear of the trans instead of under the bellhousing
