Pal, if you are going to go to all the work to put in a tranny - double check your rearend gears before you make your choice. If you have 3.90 or 4.10 or 4.11 gears go ahead and put in a 700R4 - expecially if you do any long distance driving without a load.
Sorry to hear about your knee - I would be bummin if I couldn't use a clutch.
