That wiper line being wide open represents a gigantic vacuum leak. If your engine seems to idle better with it wide open like that, you have a serious issue with your carb idle mixture setting and maybe the ignition timing as well.
It is no surprise to me that you have a driveability issue once you move away from idle. That huge vacuum leak will cause the engine to run way too lean.
