Hi All, I have been having a difficult time deciding on the paint for my panel. I know I do not want a conventional paint job. The truck is primed in grey urathane and I put the black spray paint on to look for imperfections while I block sanded with 220 grit. Now I think this is what I want, yea that unfinished look, with the grey and black all crosshatched and intermixed. I am planning on putting a "good" coat of satin black on the fenders, running boards, and grille which will give the rest of the panel a finished look. So, can I do this? Can I acheive the same effect using base coats of different colors, sand the way I want, and top with a flattened clear coat?
I also thought of just brushing the paint for additional texture, sanding, and then spraying a clear coating. Any thoughts?
Within the last six months there was a lively thread about unconventional paint jobs but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know where it is? As always, thanks.

All the best, Ted
