Hello all, I installed a 261 in my '52 Burb. I've got it all plumbed in and tried starting it today. Long story short, I've tried 2 different fuel pumps including a new one from Napa. I finally got it running and took a short drive around the block. The motor sounded like it was loading up so I gave it some gas and it died. The only way I can get it running is to pour some gas in the carburetor.
When I installed the pump to get the fuel pumping, I had to eliminate the gasket to the stroke long enough to pump fuel. It doesn't feel like the cam lobe is worn down.
Could I have the wrong pumps?
Does anyone have a definitive part number?
Very frustrated....
