Oddly, it seems that the Engine Serial Number was more commonly used than the Vehicle Serial Number.
However, I have/had titles from two 1954 WA trucks that were titled differently: one with the Engine Serial Number and one with the Vehicle Serial Number.
I was able to title both of them in NY. However, NC will now be a problem with my trucks registered using the Vehicle Serial Number - I took off the body-tags to paint the cabs. The NC inspector appropriately noted that the attachment rivets are new - how can he be sure that I didn't put eBay-bought tags on those bodies. I had/have to obtain bonded titles.
