I also put the splice in the gasket at the top of the window, and the splice in the lock strip at the bottom. That way you don't have both splices at the same location and the splice isn't as obvious.
Correct,I always put the joins opposite too and I also prefer to put the gasket join at the top,it's less likely to leak imo.
