Herbert, the guy who offended you (the guy other than me), can be a little on the short side at times, but he has helped me with many, many issues. I take him with a grain of salt, and it rolls right off. I can tell you this about him, if a fellow Bolter with a problem was anywhere near his vicinity, he would invite him over to take a look at it.
As far as you mentioning that you tried everything that was suggested, we have no way of knowing that, and since you didn't express that until today, we assumed that you may have skipped some steps.
Troubleshooting is a tedious, step by step process of testing each component until you can eliminate each of those components from the suspect list.
