Check the small fuel filter at the carb inlet where the fuel line attaches. You'll need a 1" deep socket or a box end wrench with a very thin profile to get a grip on the nut because of limited clearance on some carbs. Snap-On used to sell a special wrench for that job- - - -I've got one stashed away somewhere. Be VERY careful not to cross thread or overtighten the nut, and by all means use a new plastic gasket on it. NEVER USE TEFLON TAPE AS A SEAL!
