Jorb, be careful with 1955. There are two trucks 55.1 and 55.2. I was speaking of 55.2 when I quoted the 55-59 GMC manual re: 25 amp breakers and Tim sometimes speaks of 55.1 switch. I think we have a good understanding of the 55.1/55.2 switch design and redesign.
All the rest of your info is great stuff. 47-55 implies 55.1 and 55-59 implies 55.2.
The Chevy Supplement to 55.2 shows a fuse in the schematic and speaks of the redesign.
