Yes, took that out while you were typing. I revised my post altogether as I rethought.
55-59 GMC Maintenance Manual shows the little fuse from day one.
The fuse was added in the Supplement to the 55.2 Chevy Shop Manual. So one year, or 1/2 year, or premature page, with Phenolic barrier style with no visible fuse.
Maybe this is one of those things you can only see in books. Like a Dodo bird.
