GMC specs for 6-cyl distributors in 55-59 were to use S-2 (wheel bearing, not chassis) grease in the 6-cyl distributor cup.
SG (steering gear) grease (No. 0 grade, self-levelling grease) was used in the steering box (at the factory, and preferably when checking lubricant/grease level).
