For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! I used a 1959 pumpkin but the 3.90 rear end was to low for me as I'm running a 700R4 with a V8....so I bought a ring and pinion from Yukon gear that is a 3.38 and it keeps the RPM's down for me. (when removing the torque tube rear end you have to weld up, or remove the swivels from the vehicle and use some 3" perch blocks to set pinion angle and weld in place....all this is if you change the old tranny out. There are some 'higher gear" ratio's available but the junk yards where you find them are just about all going out of business. Good luck.....
Good luck
