Having a Ca. vehicle, with a lot of body work done...or sounds like it, you are ahead of the game. The guys in the garage forums can help with any problems. Just give them the info. Chances are they've had the same problem.
Easy way to find out if you have spark is have some hold he spark plug wire just barely out of the distributor, or holt the spark plug end of wire to metal and watch for a spark.....however I'm leaning to you having a clogged filter even though the tank was drained. Pull the breather off and look down the throat of the carb and see if you can detect any gas squirting down the carb......the 261 is a dang good engine. Good luck and nice pickup. | | |
