I just bought it for cheap from a guy who took it out of his '58 Biscayne in favor of a V8. I have no idea on the engines history. I would think if someone was playing hanky-panky that they would have had enough sense to grind off the old stampings tho. Perhaps it was stamped for a particular vehicle, not used for whatever reason, did a little shelf time, and then re-stamped for whatever vehicle it actually ended up going into.
