Yep, that cob-job (low-cost) 8v battery fix was recommended to me when I bought my 48 panel at 19 years of age (29 years of age for the panel).
I do not think that Jerry was referring to the fix killing anyone - he was perhaps referring to the 8v fix being an old cooter solution for hard starting ?
